Previous project / Next project
A new urban infrastructure for contemporary Rome.
The project redesigns a strategic area of Rome, in continuity with the Appia Antica Park and Tormarancia Park, along the Via Cristoforo Colombo infrastructural axis that connects EUR to the historic center.
The masterplan establishes a new integrated residential neighborhood where architecture, landscape, and public space form a single, cohesive system. At its core, a large urban park acts as both ecological and social infrastructure, organizing functions while shielding residential areas from the impact of primary traffic routes.
Defined by urban diagonals and a dynamic spatial framework, the plan interprets the complexity of the contemporary city and shapes an inclusive, sustainable environment oriented toward the future.

Urban vision and strategic context
The project fits into one of the most significant spatial systems of the modern city, where historic landscape, infrastructure and urban fabric dialogue on a metropolitan scale.
The location guarantees a double strategic condition: proximity to major urban routes and continuity with the Appia Antica environmental system.
The intervention establishes a new centrality capable of integrating local identity and international ambition.
Landscape as infrastructure
Typological innovation and quality of living
The urban park represents the structural heart of the masterplan. It is not a residual space, but a true environmental infrastructure that:
- mitigates traffic impact through high-canopy tree planting
- Generates a continuous network of pedestrian paths
- articulates a hierarchy of public, semi-public, and private spaces
- reinterprets the morphology of the Roman countryside with a contemporary twist
Urban diagonals organize the overall design, generating permeability, visual relationships and continuity between architecture and landscape.
The residences reinterpret the courtyard typology in a contemporary way: large open courtyard complexes with dynamic sections, going beyond the isolated apartment building model.
Courtyards become shared green spaces, extensions of the central park that foster social interaction and environmental quality. Diagonal cuts within the building volumes generate terraces at every level, enhancing natural light and long-range views while introducing identity and movement into the composition. A modular structural system ensures efficiency and typological flexibility.
Environmental sustainability and social impact
Sustainability is an integral part of the structure of the plan.
The project contributes to several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including health and well-being, sustainable cities, and climate action.
The Social Return on Investment (SROI) assessment highlights concrete benefits for communities and local areas, confirming the role of architecture as an engine of responsible urban regeneration.
