The project transforms a constrained early 18th-century apartment in Rieti’s historic center into a fluid and scenic contemporary living space.
The intervention completely redefines the interior layout by introducing a new continuous and dynamic spatiality, where longitudinal sculptural elements organize functions, paths and perceptions, generating a sculpted and immersive domestic architectural landscape.

Internal spatial regeneration
The original layout, lacking architectural identity, is replaced by a completely new configuration that enhances the existing volume through visual continuity, perspective depth, and relationships between solids and voids by connecting adjacent spaces
The home becomes a unified system capable of integrating different functions without resorting to traditional compartmentalization.
Spatial sequence
The project’s generating element is a dynamic spindle-shaped longitudinal volume that runs through the apartment from the entrance to the master bedroom, culminating in a sculpted canopy. This plastic sign organizes the sequence of rooms and defines the separation between living and sleeping areas, transforming distribution into spatial experience.
A second parallel linear element – a compact black wall – accommodates wardrobes and services obtained by volumetric subtraction. Its compact and continuous presence introduces a material and visual counterpoint that reinforces the legibility of the layout and clarifies the hierarchy of spaces.
Contemporary domestic landscape
On the opposite side is the living area as a continuous space connected by perspective openings between the kitchen, dining and living room. An integrated scenic wall houses a fireplace, bookcase and functional surfaces, configuring itself as a unified architectural device.
The alternation of smooth and sculpted, abstract and textured surfaces builds a layered environment that transforms the interior into a true living topography.
Vertical connections and visual continuity
The upper level with studio and services is connected by a light metal staircase that introduces a dynamic vertical dimension. The whole defines a coherent spatial organism, where each element – plastic, functional or structural – contributes to a unified architectural narrative.
